Ten years ago, a new phenomenon could be seen running public transport between the City of Bretten and the inner city of Karlsruhe.
It was a tram like vehicle able to ride on both the heavy railway tracks of the Deutsche Bahn and the tramway network of Karlsruhe, bringing passengers directly from origin to destination. This type of vehicle is now known all over the world as a tramtrain.
TramTrain 2002 not only celebrates this moment in time but also looks into the future of the concept of tramtrain and what has become known as the "Karlsruhe Model". |
